Stand Up To Cancer Day
Here’s What You Can Do
The sad truth is that, most likely, every one of us knows someone who is fighting or has beaten cancer. Unfortunately, some of our friends and family members were not lucky enough to win that fight. Cancer is a prolific killer - over 1600 people die from in the US alone every single day.
That’s a horrifying number. Another number that’s equally chilling is that close to 30% of all cancers can be linked to smoking. Now, we don’t claim that vaping is healthy but numerous researchers have said that vaping can’t compare (in harmfulness) to smoking. That has been confirmed by UK scientists who have found that vaping is 95% safer than smoking.
In a nutshell - if you want to live, ditch smoking immediately.
However, we’re not here to point fingers. Cancer is a plague that needs to be eradicated and you can help as well. September 8th, 2017, is Stand Up To Cancer Day - here’s what you can do to participate and lend your hand to this important fight.
Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) ORG
Stand Up To Cancer Org started with work in 2008. Frustrated by the slow advances in cancer research and seemingly competitive aspects of parallel research efforts that are taking place, they have worked hard to unite researchers and provide funding for developing cutting edge therapies.
The organization puts together interdisciplinary teams (called ‘Dream Teams’) of scientists from all over the world and provides them with funding. So far, over 1,250 scientists and researcher have participated in the program, as well as 144 renowned institutions (hospitals and research centers).
Several advanced treatments for cancer have been developed with the help of SU2C, which wouldn’t have otherwise. These include treatments for pancreatic and breast cancer, now approved by the FDA and bringing relief to thousands of patients on a daily basis. The organization also provides grants for highly experimental research with a high-risk-high-gain perspective - pharmaceutical companies don’t explore these options at all because there’s no money to be made by pursuing them.
Stand Up To Cancer depends on donations of regular people just like you. They use them to fund research and bring relief to tens of thousands of cancer patients. If you’re able, make sure to donate a couple of bucks. You can easily give the dollar amount of one vape juice bottle, secure in the knowledge that the money is going to a worthy cause.
